6. Features & Product Advantages
-
Bronze Seated Design: The sealing surfaces on both the body and wedge are made of bronze (cast aluminum bronze). This provides excellent corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and anti-galling properties. The combination of cast iron and bronze forms an ideal metal-to-metal sealing pair, ensuring a long service life.
-
Non-Rising Stem (NRS) Construction: The stem nut is located inside the wedge. During operation, the stem only rotates without rising. Therefore, the overall height of the valve remains constant, requiring minimal installation space. This is particularly suitable for confined spaces like valve pits or underground pipelines.
-
Cast Iron Body & Wedge: The body and gate are constructed from high-strength grey or ductile cast iron, offering good strength, natural corrosion resistance, and cost-effectiveness. The ductile iron option provides enhanced mechanical properties and impact resistance.
-
Full Bore Design: The straight-through flow path ensures minimal pressure drop and low flow resistance. It also allows for easy pipeline cleaning using pigs or scrapers.
-
Bolted Bonnet: The bonnet is secured with bolts, allowing for easy disassembly, inspection, and maintenance of internal components without removing the valve from the pipeline.
-
German Standard Flanges: Flanges are designed and drilled according to DIN/EN standards. The flat face design is compatible with various gasket types and ensures easy installation.
7. Inspection & Testing
-
Shell Hydrostatic Test: 1.5 x Rated Pressure at ambient temperature, held for the duration per EN 12266-1, with no visible leakage.
-
Seat Leakage Test: 1.1 x Rated Pressure at ambient temperature. Leakage is tested in one or both directions (depending on requirements) and must conform to DIN 3230 standards.
-
Visual Inspection: Casting surfaces must be clean, free from cracks, porosity, slag inclusions, and other defects. The internal/external coating must be uniform and adherent.
-
Marking: The body must be clearly marked with the pressure rating, nominal diameter, material designation, and flow direction arrow (if applicable).
8. Selection & Application Guidelines
-
Installation: While gate valves are typically bidirectional, it is recommended to install the valve according to the flow direction arrow on the body (if present) for optimal sealing performance.
-
Operation: This valve is designed for fully open or fully closed service only. Do not use it for throttling or flow regulation, as this can erode the bronze seating surfaces and cause premature failure.
-
Media Compatibility: Suitable for non-corrosive media such as clean water, sewage, seawater, steam, and oils. For highly corrosive media, stainless steel valves are recommended.
-
Temperature Limits: Operating temperature should not exceed 120°C to prevent degradation of the mechanical properties of the cast iron and bronze sealing materials.
-
Storage: For long-term storage, keep the valve in a slightly open position (approx. 5% open) to prevent the seat rings from being deformed under constant pressure. Store indoors in a dry environment to prevent rust and corrosion.
