4. DESIGN FEATURES

Key Notes for Procurement:

  1. Threaded Valve Limits: Max NPS 2″ for standard designs; confirm pressure derating for sizes >1″.

  2. Corrosion Protection: Specify SS bolting (A193 B8M) for seawater/offshore use.

  3. Standards: API 602 covers flanged valves ≤ NPS 4″; threaded valves follow MSS SP-80.

  4. Testing: Threaded valves require higher shell test pressure (see API 598 Sec 5.3).
