1. Product Description

A 2-piece floating ball valve features a two-piece split body construction, allowing for easy maintenance and inspection without removing the valve from the pipeline. The ball is “floating,” meaning it is not fixed to the stem; under pressure, the ball is pushed against the downstream seat to create a tight seal. The ASTM B62 C83600 / JIS H5111 BC2 bronze body offers excellent corrosion resistance in seawater and marine environments. The Monel K500 ball and stem provide superior strength and corrosion resistance in harsh environments, including high-sulfur, high-chloride, and low-temperature applications .

7. Design Features (JIS Standard)

  1. 2-Piece Split Body Construction: The valve body consists of two parts (main body and end cap) bolted together, allowing for easy disassembly for maintenance, cleaning, or seat replacement without removing the valve from the pipeline.

  2. Floating Ball Design: The ball is not fixed to the stem. Upstream pressure pushes the ball against the downstream seat, ensuring a tight shut-off.

  3. JIS Standard Compliance: Designed and manufactured to JIS B2071 and JIS B2002, ensuring compatibility with Japanese and other Asian pipeline systems.

  4. Monel K500 Trim: The ball and stem are manufactured from Monel K500, providing exceptional resistance to seawater, sour gas, high-sulfur oil, and stress corrosion cracking .

  5. Blow-Out Proof Stem: The stem is designed with an internal shoulder that prevents it from being ejected under pressure, even if the gland nut is loosened.

  6. Anti-Static Device (Optional): Springs and balls ensure electrical continuity between the ball, stem, and body to prevent static spark buildup.

  7. Cryogenic Service Capability: Monel K500 has no ductile-to-brittle transition temperature, making it ideal for low-temperature applications down to -101°C .

  8. Fire-Safe Design (Optional): In case of fire, the valve can be designed to meet API 607 standards.

  9. ISO 5211 Mounting Pad (Optional): Available for easy automation with pneumatic or electric actuators.

8. Applications

Important Notes:

  • ASTM B62 C83600 is equivalent to JIS H5111 BC2 (Cast Bronze), commonly known as 85-5-5-5 Red Brass or Ounce Metal .

  • Monel K500 is a precipitation-hardenable nickel-copper alloy that combines the corrosion resistance of Monel 400 with higher strength and hardness .

  • Temperature range varies based on seat material selection:

    • Standard PTFE: -29°C to 120°C

    • RPTFE / PPL: Up to 150°C – 200°C

    • Note: Monel K500 itself can operate at much higher temperatures (up to 900°C mechanically) , but seat material limits overall valve temperature range.

  • For higher pressure classes (JIS 20K) or larger sizes (above 200A), please consult the manufacturer.

  • Certified dimensional drawings should be requested for final installation planning.
