5. Design Features & Requirements
(Design features remain the same, but structural integrity is even more critical for 600LB)
-
3-Piece Bolted Body: The body consists of three parts (Body + 2 End Caps) bolted together with heavy-duty studs. This allows for easy maintenance without removing the entire valve from the pipeline, a major advantage for a large, heavy 30″ 600LB valve.
-
Trunnion Mounted Ball: The ball is fixed and supported by heavy-duty upper and lower stems/bearings. This design is essential for 30″ Class 600 applications, managing high thrust loads and reducing operating torque.
-
Double Piston Effect (DPE) Seats: Standard seats provide bidirectional sealing. The valve typically features automatic cavity pressure relief to protect the body in case of thermal expansion.
-
Emergency Sealant Injection: The valve body is equipped with sealant injection fittings. In case of seat damage at high pressure, sealant can be injected to temporarily restore sealing.
-
Anti-Static Device: A spring-loaded plunger/ball ensures electrical continuity between the ball, stem, and body.
-
Secondary Metal Seal: In the event the soft seat is destroyed by fire, the ball will contact the metal seat support, providing a metal-to-metal seal (Fire Safe feature).
Note:
-
This data sheet is based on standard ASME/API specifications for a 30″ Class 600 valve.
-
30″ Class 600 is a very high-pressure, large-diameter valve. The flange dimensions provided are per ASME B16.5. Please confirm if ASME B16.5 or ASME B16.47 (Series A or B) is required for your project, as large diameter high-pressure flanges sometimes fall under the larger flange standards.
-
The gearbox dimensions, handwheel size, and overall weight are estimates and will vary significantly by manufacturer. A heavy-duty gearbox is mandatory for this pressure class. Certified drawings are essential for installation and lifting planning.
