2. Design & Construction

The valve is a two-piece, end-entry flanged ball valve with a full-bore design. The body is investment-cast in ASTM A351 Grade CF8 stainless steel, offering good corrosion resistance for general chemical and industrial service. The two-piece body construction allows for inline maintenance of the ball, seats, and stem seals. The valve is equipped with a lever-operated quarter-turn mechanism and an ISO 5211 top mounting pad for direct actuator retrofitting.

Key Features

  • Full port design minimizes pressure drop and allows pigging.

  • Blow-out proof stem.

  • Anti-static device (standard on stainless steel ball valves).

  • ISO 5211 direct-mount top flange for electric or pneumatic actuation.

  • Lockable lever handle (padlock provision).

3. Material Specifications

Component Material Standard / Grade
Body Stainless Steel ASTM A351 CF8 (304)
Ball Stainless Steel ASTM A351 CF8 / A276 304
Stem Stainless Steel AISI 304 / 316
Ball Seats Reinforced PTFE (RTFE) —
Body Seal PTFE / Graphite —
Stem Packing PTFE / Graphite —
Handle Stainless Steel / Carbon Steel —

Note: CF8 (304) offers moderate corrosion resistance. For more aggressive media, CF8M (316) is recommended as an alternative.

4. Dimensional & Flange Data

4.1 General Dimensions

Parameter Value
Nominal Size 4″ (DN100)
Face-to-Face (ASME B16.10, Class 150) 229 mm
Port Bore Full port, approx. 100 mm (4″)
Top Mounting ISO 5211 (F07/F10 pattern, 17 mm square stem)

4.2 Flange Connection — Table E (AS2129)

The valve is supplied with flanges drilled to AS2129 Table E for DN100 nominal bore, as specified in the purchase enquiry.

Flange Parameter AS2129 Table E, DN100
Flange Outside Diameter (D) 215 mm
Bolt Circle Diameter (P) 178 mm
Number of Bolt Holes (N) 8
Bolt Hole Diameter (H) 18 mm
Flange Thickness (T) 13 mm
Nominal Pressure Rating (Table E) 1400 kPa (approx. 14 bar) at 50°C

Source: AS2129 Table E slip-on flange dimensions for DN100.

Compatibility Note: AS2129 Table E flanges are dimensionally distinct from ASME B16.5 Class 150 flanges (which use a 190.5 mm bolt circle and 8 × 19.1 mm holes for NPS 4). Verify mating pipe flange compatibility before installation. If the adjacent flange is ASME B16.5 Class 150, a transition gasket or adapter flange may be required.

5. Pressure–Temperature Ratings

The valve is rated to Class 150 per ASME B16.34. The actual allowable working pressure depends on the body material and the seat/seal material.

Parameter Rating
Maximum Cold Working Pressure (CWP) 275 PSI (≈ 19.0 bar)
Shell Test Pressure Per API 598 (typically 1.5 × CWP)
Seat Leakage Test Per API 598
Temperature Range (RTFE seats) −20°C to +200°C
Temperature Range (PTFE seats, general) −29°C to +240°C (pressure-derated at elevated temperature)

Note: PTFE-based seats are limited by the polymer’s temperature ceiling. Do not exceed +200°C with standard RTFE seats. For higher temperatures, consult the factory for metal-seated or PPL-seated alternatives.

6. Standards & Compliance

Standard Scope
ASME B16.34 Valve design, pressure–temperature ratings
ASME B16.10 Face-to-face dimensions (Class 150)
AS2129 Table E Flange drilling (as specified)
API 598 Pressure testing and inspection
ISO 5211 Actuator mounting interface

7. Testing & Quality Assurance

Each valve is hydrostatically and pneumatically tested prior to shipment in accordance with API 598.

Test Medium Acceptance Criterion
Shell Test Water No visible leakage
High-Pressure Seat Test Water No visible leakage across seat
Low-Pressure Seat Test Air No bubble leakage

8. Operating Data

Parameter Value
Operation Quarter-turn lever
Maximum Fluid Velocity 10 ft/s (≈ 3 m/s) recommended for prolonged seat life
Flow Coefficient (Cv) ≈ 1,020 (full port, 4″)
Vacuum Service Suitable up to 29 inHg (with proper seat selection)
Steam Service Consult factory; RTFE limited to ≈ 125 PSI saturated steam

9. Applications & Service Media

Suitable for:

  • Water and wastewater

  • Chemical processing (compatible with 304 SS)

  • Petrochemical and hydrocarbon service

  • General industrial isolation

  • HVAC and utility piping

Not recommended for (unless upgraded to CF8M/316):

  • Chloride-rich media (seawater, brine) — risk of stress corrosion cracking with 304 SS

  • Strong oxidizing acids

  • High-temperature service above +200°C with RTFE seats

10. Marking & Traceability

Valves are marked on the body with:

  • Size (4″)

  • Pressure class (150)

  • Body material (CF8)

  • Brand mark (SAVVY)

  • Heat number / traceability code (where applicable)
