Description

British Standard Metal-Seated Flanged Gate Valve Technical Data Sheet

Product Name: British Standard Non-Rising Stem Flanged Gate Valve
Series/Model: Z45W / BS 5163 Type (Metal Seated)
Connection: Flanged Ends
Type: Non-Rising Stem (NRS) / Inside Screw
Seat Material: Bronze (Seat surface faced with Bronze alloy)
Body Material: Cast Iron / Grey Iron

1. Application & Media

This valve is designed for isolating or connecting media in pipelines. It is suitable for water, sewage, seawater, oil, and non-corrosive gases. Due to the bronze-to-bronze metal seat, it offers better temperature and wear resistance compared to soft-seal valves, making it ideal for applications requiring metallic sealing surfaces.

2. Design & Compliance Standards

6. Product Features

  1. Metal-to-Metal Seating: The wedge and seat are faced with a Bronze alloy, ground and lapped to ensure a reliable, wear-resistant seal suitable for higher temperatures and fluids with some impurities.

  2. Non-Rising Stem (NRS): The stem is threaded inside the valve and does not rise when the valve is operated. This design is ideal for spaces with limited vertical clearance or underground installation, as the handwheel height remains constant.

  3. Full Bore Design: The straight-through flow path minimizes fluid resistance and prevents sediment accumulation.

  4. Blow-Out Proof Stem: The stem features a T-head or shoulder at the bottom, preventing it from being ejected by internal pressure, allowing for safe packing replacement under pressure.

  5. Anti-Corrosion Coating: Internal and external surfaces are typically coated with non-toxic epoxy powder to prevent corrosion, making it suitable for potable water systems.
