5. Key Features

Feature Benefit
Non-Rising Stem (NRS) Stem does not rise during operation – ideal for buried or confined spaces where vertical clearance is limited
Resilient Seated (EPDM Encapsulated Wedge) Bubble-tight shut-off (zero leakage) – outperforms metal-seated valves
Full Bore Design Smooth bore prevents debris accumulation; minimal pressure drop
Triple O-Ring Stem Seals Allows replacement of stem seals under pressure(when valve fully open); ensures long-term leak-free operation
Fusion Bonded Epoxy Coating Excellent corrosion resistance inside and out; suitable for potable water (WRAS/ACS approved)
Bi-directional Sealing Seals effectively in both flow directions
Low Operating Torque Guides in wedge and body ensure smooth, uniform closure; prevents overloading of stem
Interchangeable Design Fully complies with BS 5163 / EN 558-1 for interchangeability with other manufacturers

6. Dimensions & Weights (Reference Values – PN16)

*Note: Dimensions based on EN 558-1 Series 3 and EN 1092-2 PN16. Flanges often have dual drilling for PN10/PN16. H = height to top of operating nut/handwheel (closed position). Request certified drawing for exact dimensions. *

7. Operation Options

Operation Type Description
Handwheel Standard for above-ground installations; ductile iron handwheel
Square Socket (T-wrench) For buried service or where handwheel is not required; square nut size varies by DN (typically 8mm – 27mm)
Extension Spindle For buried valves; includes floor box and operating key (specify length)
Gear Operation For larger sizes (DN350+) where operating torque is high
  • Direction to Close: Clockwise (standard)

  • Backseating: Allows packing replacement under pressure when valve fully open

8. Testing (Per EN 12266-1 / BS 6755)

Test Test Pressure (PN16) Acceptance Criteria
Shell Hydrostatic Test 24 bar (1.5 x PN) No visible leakage through pressure boundary
Seat Leakage Test 17.6 bar (1.1 x PN) Zero leakage (Rate A – Bubble Tight) for resilient seated valves
Backseat Test 17.6 bar No visible leakage when valve fully open

9. Coating Specification

  • Type: Fusion Bonded Epoxy (FBE)

  • Standard: DIN 3476-1 / EN 14901 / AWWA C550

  • Approvals: Suitable for potable water (WRAS, ACS, KTW upon request)

10. Installation & Operation Notes

  1. Non-Rising Stem: The stem does NOT rise during operation. Valve position cannot be visually determined from stem position – use position indicators on extension spindle or count turns .

  2. Resilient Seated: This valve provides bubble-tight shut-off (zero leakage) – suitable for isolation applications requiring tight sealing .

  3. Flow Direction: Suitable for bi-directional flow – no specific orientation required .

  4. Installation Position: Can be installed in any position; for vertical pipelines, flow direction upward is recommended.

  5. Buried Service: For buried installations, specify extension spindle length and floor box with operating square .

  6. Flange Gaskets: Standard gaskets suitable for PN16 flanges should be used.

  7. Maintenance: Stem seals can be replaced under pressure when valve is fully open (backseat feature) .
