1. Product Overview

The U-Section Double Flange Butterfly Valve is a concentric, resilient-seated valve designed for dead-end service and easy alignment. It features a “U”-shaped body with integral flanges on both ends. Unlike a Wafer valve, it is installed using fully threaded studs that pass through the bolt holes of both pipeline flanges and the valve body. This combines the compact face-to-face length of a wafer valve with the installation stability of a flanged-end valve.

5. Key Design Features

  • U-Shaped Body: The body profile allows the valve to be centered between two pipeline flanges using full-length studs. This eliminates the need for tapped lugs and ensures even compression.

  • Dead-End Service: Unlike standard wafer valves, the U-section design allows the valve to be installed at the end of a pipeline (Dead-End Service) without a mating flange on the downstream side, rated up to the full pressure class.

  • Interchangeable Seat: The liner (seat) fully isolates the body from the line fluid. It is designed with an O-ring seal under the flange face and a vulcanized joint with the body, allowing for easy in-field replacement.

  • Self-Adjusting Stem Seal: A multi-lip “U” cup stem seal design automatically adjusts to pressure and temperature variations, preventing external leakage and ingress of contaminants.

  • Positive Disc Connection: The stem and disc are connected via precision taper pins or a square drive, providing positive, non-slip torque transmission.
