Forged Swing Check Valve (Free Forging Process)

Model: FCV-SWING-2500 / API 602 / ASME B16.34 Compliant

1. Product Overview

This swing check valve is manufactured using the free forging process, which ensures a homogenous grain structure, superior mechanical strength, and complete traceability of materials. It is designed to prevent reverse flow in high-pressure piping systems. The valve features a bolted bonnet, renewable seat, and swing-type disc design. The body material is ASTM A350 LF2, specifically selected for low-temperature services and offshore applications requiring high impact toughness.

5. Free Forging Process Advantages

  • Grain Structure Refinement: The free forging process breaks up as-cast structures and refines the grain size of the LF2 material, resulting in superior mechanical properties and uniform directional strength .

  • Enhanced Impact Toughness: Forged LF2 exhibits excellent impact resistance at sub-zero temperatures, making it ideal for cryogenic and offshore applications.

  • Soundness & Traceability: Free forging eliminates internal voids and ensures 100% ultrasonic testability. Full material traceability from ingot to finished product.

  • Fiber Flow Lines: The forging process aligns the grain flow with the contour of the valve body, increasing resistance to high pressure and thermal stress.

6. Key Design Features

  • Swing-Type Disc: The disc swings on a hinge pin, offering minimal pressure drop and unobstructed flow path when fully open .

  • Renewable Seat Ring: The seat is a separate, replaceable component, hardfaced with Stellite for excellent wear and erosion resistance, extending valve service life without replacing the body.

  • Bolted Bonnet Construction: Designed for high-pressure classes (2500LB), the bolted bonnet provides secure sealing and allows easy access for inspection and maintenance .

  • Anti-Rotation Disc Design: The disc arm is designed to prevent rotation, ensuring consistent sealing alignment.

  • Low Pressure Drop: The full bore design (if specified) minimizes turbulence and pressure loss across the valve .

7. Performance Data (API 598)

Test Requirement
Shell Test (Hydrostatic) 1.5 x Rated Pressure (37500 psi / 258 bar g for Class 2500)
Seat Leakage Test (Hydrostatic) 1.1 x Rated Pressure (27500 psi / 190 bar g)
Backseat Test Optional for bolted bonnet designs
Leakage Rate (Seat) No visible leakage permitted per API 598 (Zero leakage)
Impact Testing (LF2) Charpy V-Notch at -46°C: Average ≥ 20 ft-lb (27J), single ≥ 15 ft-lb (20J)
